SOAR, is a great vehicle for improving pattern recognition, sequencing, memory, and reaction time. Children will gain comfort in the water, develop basic swimming and artistic swimming skills. The SOAR program is a great alternative to swimming lessons! Additionally physical activity has been associated to lower rates of stress, anxiety, depression therefore positively impacting the health and wellbeing of participants. Swimmers will have the opportunity to participate in group work and meet new friends as well as interacting with other members of the club.
-
All coaches have many years of experience as artistic swimming athletes. Additionally they are NCCP trained and have completed the NCCP Coaching Athletes with a Disability module and Navigating Neurodiversity in sport Training.
-
Each year there are Sept, Jan, and April sessions. We currently have programming at U of A, Grand trunk, and Confederation pools.
Schedule and locations on page below -

Newcomers to Canada, and Low Income Subsidies
For more than three consecutive years, Excel has been able to subsidize our pre-competitive programs with funds received from a Red Cross Grant and a CPRA grant from the Government of Canada to support participation of women in sport.
The club is currently working to secure new grants to subsidize this program for future sessions. If successful, we will be able to provide subsidized programming in both the pre-competitive stream and competitive stream for swimmers with the (10 & U /Novice team). In the pre-competitive program, participants learn the basics of swimming and artistic swimming, while in the competitive program (10 & U / Novice team) participants train and compete with a specific group or team of individuals.
